STARTING THE WOOD INLAY FOR THE BOX SIDES:

Select and cut the veneer to be used, (I should point out that veneer is commercially available and can easily be found on line) smooth both and thickness as with the veneer for the top inlay panel.

Square up the veneer, to be used. Again I am using West Australian Jarrah for the sides of the box, inlaid with Australian Red Cedar.

Glue the pattern to the front surface of the veneer and smooth ensuring all the excess glue is squeezed out.

Drill an entry hole for the saw blade and cut the section out in a clockwise direction.

Below is another example of my early work, it is the Richmond Birdwing Butterfly, Male on the lid and female inside the lid.
