INLAY ON LID, CONTINUED:

TODAY'S SHOW ITEM

The above was one of my first attempts with wood inlay, you may notice that the finish makes the box look a lot older than it is. This was by accident, I messed up the finish a number of times, but actually like the final outcome.

Inlaying the top of the box

Select next section to be inlaid.

Establish the grain direction.

Securely attach veneer to be inlaid, ensuring the grain is running in the right direction.

In the adjoining section drill an access hole for the saw blade.

In my previous post, I forgot to mention the table of the scroll saw is set at about 5 degrees, the exact angle is dependent on the thickness of the veneer and the thickness of the blade. A quick test cut will show if the angle should be set at a greater or lesser angle.

Saw around the selected area in a clock wise direction.
